06:10 pm - Latest in New Jeweled Trees series and Summer plans
I'm sitting here, on my porch, watching my boys play on their slippy slide (or whatever the heck it's called) while I upload new art to the company server and catch up on orders. I guess this is not EXACTLY how you enjoy the outdoors. If we had an actual pool, I'd definitely be turning my cheek to this macbook. Really, there is so much yard work around here, I should be slapped in the face for ignoring it. ;) The back area around the deck needs a good tilling. Or to be more exact, some bulldozing with later, tilling. And then filling in with some fresh mulch. We redid the front yard, where I sit, in that way and it's lovely. Even moreso, because now we only need to tend to the perennials. No real weeding (hacking, digging and swearing) like before. Less yard work, the better. More like more yard lounging/tanning. I sound so lazy.
I did help (a little) clean out the pole barn, which is being reorganized as we type, and keep the clan hydrated and fed. It's really hot out today and breezy which is a wonderful combination. I love the heat. In the Summer, however, and I mean the REAL Summer, it will be very hot and dry. Heavy heat. No breeze. During July, we head up north to the Tawas area for camping and fireworks. This year, we'll take out the boat and waverunners and enjoy the water a bit more this time. It's very breezy up there, near one of the Great Lakes. It's sad I'm not even sure which Lake it is, and I was born here!
This season is bringing wonderful new things and I'm working on so many new projects. I wish I could tell you all the exciting little things I'm working on this time, but they are top secret for the moment. You do get to see some new work in my series, "Jeweled Trees" right now. Everyone seems resounding in their excitement since the reveal of the first piece. I have alot of ideas in mind for my landscapes that go beyond the trees and gardens, introducing much more environments, plant life and creatures than before. And all in this style. Working on the fantasy art for the last few weeks really helped me get going in that direction, and crazily I've been debating on this since LAST Spring. LAST Spring I had come up with the NEW Jeweled Trees and it took a year before I actually attempted it. I know. Crazy.

"Blue Willow" is first in the NEW and evolved Jeweled Trees series! They will be more adventurous and magical than ever before, incorporating scenery and details that have been so familiar in my Sirens series pieces as well as other Fantasy artwork I've done.
A Blue Willow grows among a majenta painted landscape, dotted with various muted flowers and plant life. It's swirling branches and rounded jewel toned "fruits" are a familiar part of the series, while a new addition of filled out leaf life is added.
